One of our assignments currently in the works is a book design project for scratch-build model maker David Glen. David spends much of his time building a variety of highly detailed aeronautical models from his well-equipped workshop in South Cambridgeshire. As well as authorship of the aforementioned book, he is currently several months into his latest large scale project, a Spitfire Mk IX. Part of the process is a blog-along construction diary which he maintains via his Brown & Brown managed website, spitfireinmyworkshop.net.
Spitfire In My Workshop is also the title of David's book, being as it is a detailed account of making his large-scale Mk I model. The 1:5 scale replica took eleven years of spare time to construct and has been on permanent display at the Royal Air Force Museum, Hendon since November 2006.
Sample pages of the book are currently available for download from the spitfireinmyworkshop.net. Visitors to the site are also being encouraged to offer feedback once they have viewed the samples, helping in part to shape the way the book will be marketed. The book is due for launch in 2014.
